After this long uneasy summer all I
needed was another migration season. Although some early migrants were seen in
the end of June already it was not "it". Now, I'm happy to present
you the first post of autumn migration for 2014:
The migrants are here! Not only along
salty edged of some salt-ponds, not just along the shoreline, not only a single
glimpse at a disappearing bird deep in the bush… Despite the temperatures
outside we were already able to set some nets and make some short ringing
sessions (before it gets really hot, around 9:30am ).
The most common birds in the ringings
are still local, such as White spectacled Bulbuls Pycnonotus
xanthopygos בולבול , House Sparrow Passer
domesticus דרור הבית and some still very young&cute Graceful Prinia Prinia gracilis פשוש.
From the migrants section some nice
species were already noted:
Reed Warbler Acrocephalus
scirpaceus קנית קטנה

We are all eager to see
what will bring the next day, what will we see around in a week or two… Not to
talk about later on..!
On the first of
September we will start ringing daily.. Keep following!
